Obituary of Richard Martyny
Richard "Rick" Martyny, born 10/05/1949 in Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly after having a heart procedure on April 12, 2018. Rick graduated from Technical High School and Western New England College both in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was in the Air Force reserves from 1969-1975. Rick worked in Springfield as a sheet metal mechanic with Kaman aircraft from 1969-1973. He then found his passion in the banking business as a financial advisor for Shawmut 1970-1995 and then Fleet from 1995-1998 both in the Massachusetts area. Rick moved to Florida in 1998, where he continued his banking career with Computer Sciences Corp. 1998-2000. In 2000, Rick took over Sun Spirit Landscape in Deland, Florida,from his late wife when she was diagnosed with cancer. He retired and sold the business in 2010 and moved back to Springfield, Massachusetts with his wife. Rick's wife and family always came first and foremost, but if all was well he loved to ride his Harley and watch NASCAR.
Rick is survived by, wife Tammy Martyny, son Todd Martyny and wife Kara, daughter Connie-Lynn Salvatore and husband Dave, grandchildren Brianna Perry, Niccolo Salvatore, Madalyn Salvatore, Emily Martyny and Nora Martyny.
He is predeceased by, Father, Earle D. Martyny 1986, Mother, June B. Martyny 2010, and Sister, Marilyn J. Martyny 2008.
Services will be held at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 East New York Avenue, Deland, Florida 32724, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life to follow at Deland Eagles #3959, 1330 Yorktown Stret, Deland, Florida, behind the Florida Highway Patrol on U.S. 92.
