Obituary of Alfred Boykin
Alfred “Guy” Boykin, 93 of Lake Helen, Florida, died on 18 March, 2018 at the Hospice Care Center in Orange City, Florida. There will be a viewing at Lankford Funeral Home, in Deland, Florida this Saturday from 3 to 5 P.M. The funeral service will be held on this Sunday 12:00 PM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ Lake Helen, Florida. Followed by a graveside service at the Lake Helen Cassadaga Cemetery, Florida.
Guy was born on the 12th of December,1924 in Boston, Georgia to Ollie and Maurice Boykin. He entered into the United States Navy in 1943. He served in World War II, Korean War, Cuban Blockade Crisis and Vietnam War. Guy was a Free Mason and a lifetime member of the Barberville Lodge. He retired from the Navy in 1965 after 23 years of Service, and also retired from the Florida Department of Transportation in 1987. He married Mildred Wirick in 1948. They raised 3 children together.
He is survived by his sister Gwen, daughter Kathy Boykin, his son Wayne Boykin and daughter Brenda Jones. Six grandchildren Adam, Adrienne, Diana, Laura and Valorie. Six great grandchildren Nate, Ayden, Carter, Austin, Elosie and Owen.
