Obituary of Evenly Carlson
Evelyn J. Carlson, 88, passed away with her family by her side on January 25, 2018 in DeLand, FL. Married to Robert Carlson (deceased) for 61 years and loving mother to five children: Phillip (deceased), Cheryl (Deland, FL), Pamela (Tampa, FL), Kristina (Oxford, MS), and Christopher (Chattanooga, TN). She loved her grandson, Captain Alexander (Oxford, MS), step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Alexander, step-great-grandson, Tanner Johnson, and son-in-law, Douglas Alexander (Oxford, MS). She carried her love for her father and mother, Victor and Iva Oberg (deceased), brother and sister-in-law, Byron and Jackie Oberg (deceased) and their family, Mark Oberg (deceased), Marta and Bill Self (CA), and Jill Oberg (CA) throughout her life as well as her love of her cousins both here in the United States and those in Sweden. In addition, she shared a love of the Chicago Cubs, the Swedish Covenant Church and the Green Bay Packers. Evelyn moved to Deland in 2005 from Richmond, VA where she was loved by many friends as an active member of the Good Bodies, as well as an Elder at Ginter Park Presbyterian Church. In DeLand, she built a community of friends at the Potato Patch where she ate daily and where she never met a stranger. The family will attend a private burial in Michigan later this year.
