Obituary of Carroll McCutcheon
Carroll Boone "Mac" McCutcheon, 81 of DeLand, Florida, passed away January 10, 2018 at home. He was born on January 27, 1936 to Guy and Ruby McCutcheon in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma.
As a young man, "Mac" served as a radarman on the destroyer, USS Shelton and went to flight school in Pensacola, Florida. Following his years of service in the Navy, Mac graduated from the University of Okahoma with a degree in Political Science. He went on to have a successful career with the federal government as a Human Resource manager. He served with a number of federal agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the General Services Administration. During his federal service, Mac earned a Master's Degree in Politicial Economics from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas-Austin. He retired from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Seattle in 1992. He and his wife Cindy moved to her hometown, DeLand, Florida in 1995.
Mac loved golf and tennis and was an avid player at the DeLand Country Club for many years. He enjoyed keeping up with computers, technology and reading on his tablet.
Mac was predeceased by his daughter Paige Klett of Fort Worth, Texas; he is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Cindy. He is also survived by his four children and their families: Ann Luna of Tampa, Florida; Niki Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; Jill Kelly of Dallas, Texas; and Wayne Herriman of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As Mac requested, there will be no service. We ask that family and friends live their lives to the fullest, as a way to honor our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
