Obituary of Willis Timmons Galliher

Willis Timmons Galliher went to be with our Lord in heaven October 5th, 2020.

Born in Salters, South Carolina, Willis was the eldest daughter of Julius Augustus and Helen Scott Timmons. Willis graduated Francis Marion University with a degree in finance and Rollins College with an MBA. 

Willis married Jack E. Galliher (USAF, retired) of Iredell County, NC December 25th 1958 and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage. They raised 2 sons, Jeffrey Jack Galliher and Ricci Timmons Galliher. Willis & Jack moved to Amelia Island from Merritt Island after retiring from Nasa as head of appropriations for the space program.

Willis was a devoted wife and mother as well as the matriarch of the Scott / Timmons families of SC. She was a member and trustee of Memorial United Methodist Church of Amelia Island. She and Jack enjoyed traveling, reading, crafts, South Carolina Bar-B-Que and spending time with family and friends.

Willis is survived by her son Jeffrey Jack Galliher, his wife LeAnne Galliher of DeLand, her grandson Jack Robert Galliher, granddaughter Emily Laine Galliher, nephews Harry “Chuck” Osborne Jr. of Orange Park FL & Bruce Hewitt of Iredell County NC, Rosie Osborne of Salters SC. Nieces Judy Collins, Debbie Collins Haneline, & Phyliss Hewitt Curry of NC. 

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 24th at Memorial United Methodist Church Fernandina Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial United Methodist Church Galliher Endowment fund.
