Delores “Dee” Hazel Shuster (Moorehead), 95, of Deland, Florida, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020.
Delores was born in Apollo, Pennsylvania on July 11, 1924. She graduated from Apollo High School in 1942. After high school, Delores started work at Montgomery Wards where she worked in shipping, merchandising and records over the span of 44 years.
Delores was married to Joseph “Joe” Matt Shuster on July 4, 1947, at St. Paul’s Church in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. They were married for 42 years.
Delores was artistic at an early age and placed in the high school art shows. She enjoyed arts and crafts over the years and had many talents which included sewing, crocheting, painting and crafting. She would attend local craft and farmer’s markets selling her homemade clothing, pillows, crafts and her famous crocheted tea towels.
Delores is survived by her children; Carol L. Sweet (Larry) of Deland, Fl., Susanna K. Thompson (Harry) of Brackenridge, Pa., Joseph M. Shuster, Jr. (Judith) of Houston, De., Lewis H. Shuster (Mattie) of Hopewell, Va., and Julia A. Powers (Scott) of Apopka, Fl., grandchildren; Brandon, Ashley, Heidi, Joseph, Kristina, Erika, and Justin, great-grandchildren; Josie, Ellie, Georgiana, Isaiah, Zhayne, Vivian, Wesley and Alaina, other family and friends. Delores was devoted to her family and adored traveling to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Delores is preceded in death by her mother (Hazel), father (William), brothers (Bill, Karl, John and Jim) and sisters (Ethel and Mary), husband (Joe), and grandchild (Michael).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Haven Hospice – Roberts Care Center (Palatka) or the American Cancer Society. The family of Delores H. Shuster wishes to thank the nurses, aides and staff at the Haven Hospice – Roberts Care Center for their loving support.
