Obituary of Charles Edward Meyer III

Meyer, Charles Edward Michael, III, “Charlie” age 89, formerly of New Smyrna Beach passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020. He was the husband of Elaine Falls Meyer and the son of the late Charles Edward Michael, Jr., Phyllis Klanke Juergens and predeceased by wife Joan Callaghan Meyer. He was born in Cincinnati, OH. He attended the University of Tennessee on a football scholarship. Meyer, a witty and athletic student, played on the 1951 and 1952 National Championship teams under Coach General Neyland. He received a BS in Business Administration and graduated in 1952. He served in the Army as a First Lieutenant and played Football for Army under Coach Al Davis at Fort Belvoir. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the Masonic Fraternal Order, Anglers Yacht Club Commodore, Sugar Mill Country Club President, Sugar Mill Country Club Board of Directors, Bert Fish Hospital Foundation and Bert Fish Hospital Board of Directors. Charlie had a long career in the Healthcare Industry, employed by Johnson and Johnson for 20 years, serving on the Board of Directors - Ethicon, C.R. Bard and Park Davis as Vice President Sales and Marketing. In addition to his wife, Elaine Falls Meyer, Mr. Meyer is survived by son Mike Meyer (wife Chris Meyer), daughter, Kappy Pettit (husband Gordon Pettit) Grandchildren Gil Pettit (wife Mary Lowell Pettit), Cal Pettit, Kate Pettit, Alex Meyer (wife Ali Meyer) Carolyn Meyer and Great Grandchild William Pettit.
