Obituary of Ruth Ann Brotman


Predeceased by her parents George Treadwell Woolley and Edna Mae Woolley (nee Guthmuller), brother George Sherman Woolley, and infant son Robert Karl Johnson, and first husband Richard Albert Johnson,  Ruth is survived by her husband Irwin Brotman; children Craig William Johnson, James Robert (Janette) Johnson, Jennifer Elizabeth Enos, Lisa Ann Brotman, Michelle Susan Brotman, Patti Ann Johnson, and Richard Russell Johnson; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles,  friends, and loved ones.

Ruth was born in Jamaica, New York, and graduated from Newtown High School (Queens, NY) and SUNY (Oneonta, NY).  Ruth spent many years as a bookkeeper – where she met Irwin, and later married him (1976), and then the rest of her career working alongside him to begin and operate printing businesses in Boca Raton, Deland, and Fort Lauderdale, Fl, and Anderson, SC.  She was a member of Adon Olam Messianic Congregation, Greenville, SC, where she always looked forward to and enjoyed this wonderful community of people.  Ruth was a devoted volunteer for Hospice of Ormond Beach, Fl and Anderson, SC, where she looked forward to her visits to bring love, joy, and respect to each and every patient she encountered.

Her club memberships were many, but the most meaningful to her were the P.E.O. club, Past Commodore, Catalina Sailing Association of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Wings of Gold Motorcycle Club of Davie, FL.

Ruth’s hobbies included needlework of any kind, cooking, bird watching, and tending to her African Violets and Sunflowers.

A Thank You from Ruth will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 12 noon - 3 p.m. at the Orange Tree Village Club House; 880 Navel Orange Drive; Orange City, FL 32763.  Please let the family know you will be here so we will have enough food.  Ruth wouldn't have wanted anyone not having enough to eat.
