Obituary of John Michael Larkin
John M. (Jack) Larkin, died October 7, 2019 at home in Deland, Florida, surrounded by family after a long illness.
Jack was born July 12, 1945 in Boston, Massachusetts to Edward and Grace (Conway) Larkin. The family lived in South Boston before moving to South Weymouth, Massachusetts, where Jack graduated from high school in 1964. He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1965, and was honorably discharged in 1971. He married E. Janette Henson in 1971 and they had 3 children before divorcing in 1979. Jack worked for Atlantic Bell in Massachusetts before taking a position with Pacific Bell in California in 1977, where he worked for several years, until an industrial accident in 1990 forced him to have to retire. A few years later, Jack sold insurance for the Knights of Columbus until his retirement in 2013. At that point, Jack moved back to New England to be closer to his family. In 2016, Jack and his younger brother, Peter, moved to Deland to enjoy their retirement years.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Grace, his sister Maureen Fitzpatrick, and his brother Edward. He is survived by his 3 children: Derek, and his wife, Jena, of Norco, California; Christopher of Weymouth, Massachusetts; his daughter-in-law, Stacee, of Weymouth, Massachusetts; and Lindsay and Michael O’Shea of Weymouth, Massachusetts; his grandchildren: Joshua, Drew, Destiney, Cynthia, Ryan, Tyler, Evan, and Liam; his great grandchildren, Jack and Eloise; his brother, Peter; and many nieces and a nephew.
Jack asked to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post 6 in Deland, FL., 1087 Biscayne Blvd. on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 1-4pm.
