Obituary of Barbara Joan Page
Barbara Page, age 87, died on July 13th at her home in DeLand, FL after a long illness. Her funeral service will be held July 19th at the Lankford funeral home in DeLand, followed by burial at the Oakdale cemetery.
Ms. Page was born on January 1, 1932 in DeLand to Latham and Anita Rutter. She attended Florida State University and then graduated from Stetson University where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She married George Malcolm Dykes Jr in 1953 and together they had 4 children. She was a teacher and then a school psychologist with Volusia County schools. She was a member of the 1st Church of Christ Scientist in DeLand and Black Mountain, NC. She married Don Page in 1968, who had 3 children - Frances Glascoe, Charlotte Rorech, and David Page.
They spent summers in Black Mountain NC where Ms. Page particularly enjoyed serving with the Christian Ministries. She also loved spending time at her beach house in Wilbur-by-the- sea south of Daytona. She was a member of the Deland country club, and a frequent participant in Stetson Alumni events.
She is survived by her four children, Debbie Mueller, Jennifer Nylen, Druanne White, and Darryl Dykes, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One of her grandchildren remembered that “she always encouraged us to smile”. She will be lovingly remembered.
