Obituary of Wayne Anthony Lyons
Wayne Anthony Lyons was born on October 7th, 1955, in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Arthur and Mary Jane (Thibeault) Lyons. He graduated from East Windsor High School (CT). Wayne moved to Florida in the early 90’s, and started a successful career as a Customer Service Trainer for the Home Shopping Network.
Wayne is survived by his children and their spouses, Nicholas Lyons and Heather Fanning (Nashville, TN) and Heather Lyons and Anthony LoPinto (St. Petersburg, FL), his grandchildren Callan Lyons, Lennon Lyons (Nashville, TN), and Anthony LoPinto Jr. (St. Petersburg). Wayne is also survived by his brother, Donald Lyons (DeLand, FL), his sister Gloria (Lyons) Borders and her husband Drew (New Brittan, CT), and his brother Kenneth Lyons (Greenville, SC), and his nieces and nephews Jessica (Borders) Becker (Apex, NC), Raymond Lyons (Holland, MA), Sean Lyons (Summers, CT), and Andrew Lyons (Lyman, SC). Wayne is predeceased by his mother, Mary Jane and Father Arthur.
In addition to the relatives, the family would like to acknowledge Katy Gress of DeLand. She was his Assistant Manager while he was working for a gas station chain who became like a daughter to him. We can’t thank her enough for saving him on the day that he became ill at work in April of 2017, and continuing to be a friend after. We also want to acknowledge everyone that has reached out over the past few days and told stories about how much Wayne meant to them and how much Wayne’s helped them over the years.
Wayne passed away peacefully at home on July 5th, 2019. Instead of a service, we decided to set up a St. Jude memorial fund in Wayne’s name. Wayne would have loved to make sure that all of the kids in his life had everything that they needed and we wanted to make sure that we were able to spread some of the love and compassion to other kids that might not get the chance to have the love and compassion that Wayne knew that they deserved.
