Obituary of William Hubert Cliver
William (Bill) Hubert Cliver was born July 13, 1918 in Terre Haute, Indiana. His father, William, was a policeman and his mother, Cora, ran a boarding house. Bill worked to help support his family during the Great Depression, as well as pursuing his education. He moved with his mother and sister to East St. Louis, Illinois in the early forties, during World War II. He married his wife Virginia in 1945 and they had five children together, three girls and two boys. He worked for Shell Oil Co. for several years, and for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a Car Inspector for twenty years before retiring.
He and Virginia moved to Florida in 1977 after the death of one of their daughters to be near children. Eventually, all their children and grandchildren followed them to Florida so the entire family could be together. Bill loves parties and always greeted every holiday with a celebration, from St. Patrick's Day throughout the year. Christmas Eve was the most meaningful holiday, to celebrate his savior's birth. He enjoys the outdoors, and always loved hunting and fishing.
Bill and Virginia were married just shy of seventy years. They have nine grandchildren and forteen great-grandchildren, and they all call him Foxie!
