JOHN EDWARD HERMAN 1943-2019

Died February 23, 2019

John was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on March 13, 1943. John lived in many other places before arriving in DeLand, Florida in 2009: Montreal, Canada; Riverside, Illinois; Eastchester, New York; and Bethesda, Maryland.

While in Bethesda, John was a book keeper and tax accountant. He volunteered at the genealogy area of the Mormon Library, was a member of the Montgomery County Historical Society and the Washington Numismatic Society.  He was also an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Maryland.

After moving to Florida, he also helped with genealogy at the Mormon Library in DeLand, joined the Roots and Branches Genealogy Society, manned the Genealogy and Local History room at the DeLand Library and was treasurer at Faith Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jim Goldschneider; his niece and husband, Christine Goldschneider and David Houle; his great nephews, Aidan Hirsch and Thomas Houle; a great niece, Rachel Houle and many, many cousins in Canada, and also Seattle, Vermont and Spain.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held March 9, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 509 E> Pennsylvania Avenue, DeLand, FL.
