Obituary of Francisca Proulx
Francisca daRosa Proulx, 99, 400 E Howry Ave, DeLand, FL., passed peacefully on December 4, 2018, at Ridgecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in DeLand.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Proulx. Francisca was born on October 17, 1919 in Warren, Rhode Island, daughter of the late Manuel P. da Rosa and Anna S. Rodrigues. She grew up in Warren Rhode Island, she worked at her Father and Mothers “daRosa’s Market”, she graduated from Warren High School and from Bryant College of Smithfield, Rhode Island. She was a charter member of the Sowams Garden Club of Warren, Rhode Island. A member of the retired Army Officers Wife’s Club. Married Joseph Proulx in 1946. Together they traveled to Europe, Canada, Mexico as well as throughout the United States. Relocated to DeLand in 1978, she became very active as a volunteer at Volusia Hospital.
Francisca was one of three sisters, Hortencia Rodrigues, (Louis) (both deceased) and Anna Paiva (Charles) (deceased) of DeLand, FL. She is survived by Nieces, Lucia Creech (Larry Rocke), Jacksonville, N.C., Rosalyn Shepard (Ron), Springfield, Mass., Roberta Yarbrough (deceased) (Jerry); Nephews, Richard (Aida) Paiva, Ray (Beth) Paiva, Russell Paiva, Ralph (Zoe) Paiva, of DeLand, FL. Francisca also has many great nieces and nephews and their families all of whom she loved dearly.
Viewing and service will be at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 E New York Avenue, DeLand, FL. 32724, viewing from 9am to 11am followed by service at 11am on December 10, following the service burial will be at DeLand Memorial Gardens, 600 E Beresford Ave, Deland, FL.
