Obituary for Laura A. Cola Laura A. Cola, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2020, at The Legacy House in Ocala. She was born July 4th, 1931, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, to Juan and Longina Sepulveda. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jack M. Cola, Sr., and three children, Steven Cola,Ft. McCoy, FL; Diane (Thomas) Roberts, Apopka, FL and Lori (Daniel) Stanfill, Winter Park, FL. Four of her children predeceased her; Jack Michael Cola, Jr., Salvatore John Cola, Arthur Edward Cola, and Pamela Ann Watson. Laura was one of 12 children raised during the Great Depression. She is survived by six siblings, including Maria Gonzalez, Boca Raton, FL; Teresa Gonzalez, Brentwood, NY; Mike Sepulveda, Lake Worth, FL; Ralph Sepulveda, Jacksonville, FL; Ana Cruz, Lorain, Ohio; Miguela Sepulveda, East Chicago, Indiana; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews, all of whom brought her great joy. Laura spent her childhood in Puerto Rico prior to moving to New York. Jack and Laura met and married when in their 20’s and moved to Florida. Growing up with limited resources, Laura was a devoted homemaker, who was not wasteful and used everything to its fullest potential. Her delicious cooking was enjoyed by all, which often included her specialty, lasagna. Laura was a devout Catholic, who lived her life selflessly caring for her husband and children,and praying the rosary daily in her later years. Laura loved to laugh and always enjoyed a fun get-together with family and friends. She was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church before moving to Ft. McCoy, FL. All seven of her children attended St. Peter’s Catholic School. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life. The visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand; funeral services will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Monday, January 13, at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at DeLand Memorial Gardens, with a reception at St. Peter’s Catholic Church to follow.
