Signe Anna Dietrichson of Deland, FL passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 surrounded by her beloved family following a brave battle with lung and bone cancer. Signe was born in Staten Island, NY on May 2, 1964 to Ann and Axel Dietrichson. Growing up she got to see the world, living in Sweden, Tunisia, South Africa and Iran before returning to the United States in 1979. She always loved to travel, cook and garden. In March 2010 she suffered a spinal AVM which left her paralyzed from the waist down leaving her wheelchair bound for close to 10 years. She rose to the challenge and continued to be active and involved. She connected with the National Wheelcats in Nashville, TN and learned to play wheelchair tennis. She participated in many tournaments around the country with them, winning some of them, and also making lasting friendships. She also discovered rowing and was a strong competitor there too. She always looked for the good in what she was doing and in the people that she met and tried to live and love life to the fullest. She was predeceased by her father in 1995. She is survived by her mother, Ann in Franklin TN, her brother Rolf and wife Lisa in Burlington CT, Jack Wallace, her “forever man” and the love of her life in Deland FL, her niece Kaila and husband Eric Mitchell in Calhan CO, two uncles and aunts; Helge and Marit Dietrichson and Ole Joh and Helga Dietrichson all in Norway and several cousins.
