Betty Jane Lennon, 88, died the 15th of December 2019 at the Florida Hospital in Deland after a short illness. Her funeral service will be held Friday, December 20th, 11:30 am, at the National Cemetery in Bushnell Florida. There will be a memorial service held for her at the Cloisters on E. Howry Avenue in Deland Florida, date to be determined.
Betty was born Betty Jane Bartholomew on 10 December 1931 in Binghamton, NY to Clara and Walter Bartholomew. Her two brothers, who pre-deceased her, were Ray and Jack Bartholomew. Betty married Richard (Dick) Harold Lennon on March 6, 1950. Dick Lennon pre-deceased Betty on March 3, 2005 and was buried at the Bushnell National Cemetery. Betty will be laid to rest next to him. Dick and Betty had two sons Michael Alan Lennon of White Bear Lake, MN and Gary Richard Lennon of Virginia Beach, VA. Michael has a son Matthew David Lennon who also has two children Evelyn and Dara Lennon. Gary has a son Gregory Lee Lennon.
In addition to raising their two sons, Betty had a career in the accounting department at the Wall Street Journal. She was actively involved with the Boy Scouts while living with Dick at Yards Creek Scout Reservation, creating many long-lasting relationships with scouts and scouters. Betty and Dick retired to Florida and enjoyed years of traveling the country in their RV. Betty moved to the Cloisters where she continued her love of playing Bridge and enjoyed developing new friendships.
