Dr. Trachy (Ph.D. in Humanities from Florida State University, 1977) was a much admired teacher and mentor of Valencia Community College / West Campus in Orlando FL. Born in Worcester MA on Christmas Day, Carole Ann McAtee eventually enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and worked in the photography lab in San Diego in 1953. She then moved to Tallahassee FL to pursue a Ph.D. in Humanities with an emphasis in Classics. Her dissertation was on the ancient Greek goddess Artemis. Dr. Trachy was also well published in pedagogical theories for teaching the interdisciplinary humanities.
In 1972, Carole met her second husband and eventual soulmate, Mr. Linwood Trachy of Pelham MA. Together, Carole and Linwood participated in many of the arts and culture programs at Valencia College, before they retired to the Lake City, and finally settling in the city of Ocala FL. Linwood Trachy predeceased his wife, and Carole’s final years were spent in the care of her two daughters.
