William Butler Cummings, 62, of Deland, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2025. Born on December 6, 1962, in Rockville Centre, New York, Bill was raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts, before making his way to Florida, where he would build a successful life and career.
The youngest of four siblings, Bill graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in Business from the University of Central Florida at Daytona State College in 1984. He went on to work in the commercial security industry for nearly three decades, holding several supervisory and leadership positions throughout his career. Most recently, he was a respected senior team member at Protos Security in Roanoke, Virginia, where he was known for his dedication, leadership, and genuine care for his colleagues. A skilled sales advisor and operations manager, Bill’s work ethic and loyalty left a lasting impression on all who worked with him.
Outside of work, Bill lived life with warmth and humor. He was an avid golfer and could often be found participating in recreational or company softball leagues. A lifelong and enthusiastic Boston sports fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, or Bruins. Sundays were sacred—best spent with a beer in hand and a football game on the screen. Bill had a sharp wit and a wonderfully wicked sense of humor, traits that endeared him to friends and family alike. He made connections easily and cherished the people in his life deeply.
Above all, Bill was a devoted father to his daughter, Rachel Anne Cummings (Oliver), whom he spoke of with endless pride and love. He was the beloved brother of Christopher Cummings (Joy), Carrie Cummings McGuire (Tom), and the late Kelley Cummings Kraemer (Kenny). He was a loving uncle to Erick, Annie, Kevin, Connor, and Christopher, maintaining close and meaningful relationships with each of them. Bill was preceded in death by his dear mother, Patricia Cummings, and his sister Kelley.
He will be remembered for his easygoing nature, quick smile, fierce loyalty, and the laughter he brought into every room.
Service arrangements are currently pending and will be announced by the family at a later date.
