Sharon Lea Maybury, of Orange City, Florida passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the side of her husband, Robert Vincent Maybury. No services are planned currently, but a Celebration of Life is scheduled for June 2023.

Sharon was born May 30, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio and is preceded in death by her parents Leonard J. and Wilma R. (Blackmore) Molenda. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert, and children Kevin (Sheri), Kristen (John), Karl (Michelle), and Thomas and her grandchildren, Matthew, Ellen, Samuel, and Olivia. She is also survived by her brother, Charles, who resides in Orange City.

Sharon grew up in Cleveland and Detroit and moved to Dallas, TX with her family, where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959. She attended Texas State University for one year and then joined the workforce with an insurance company. It was in Dallas where she met her husband who was stationed at James Connelly Air Force Base in Waco, TX. They began dating in August of 1961 and married April 28, 1962 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dallas. From there, they moved to Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, UT where their first three children were born. Following their assignment in Utah, they were stationed in the Philippines, Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, Travis AFB, CA and the Pentagon. After Robert’s service with the military, Sharon and Robert moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1992 where they lived until 2012. While there, they fully embraced the Colorado lifestyle, building a mountain house on 35 acres, in the heart of the mountains. In 2012, they moved to Deland, FL before relocating to Orange City, FL in 2022.

Sharon is remembered for not only her love of family, many friends, and faith, but also her no-nonsense approach to life, sense of humor, and her immense generosity towards anyone in need. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Sharon’s honor for Tunnels 2 Towers, an organization supporting the victims and families of 9/11, first responders, and wounded military veterans.
