Sawyer Graham Walter passed away suddenly and tragically on Thursday October 6 th, 2022, at 7.29pm, just 5 days after his 14th birthday.

Sawyer was well known in the community for his passion for fishing, both fresh and saltwater. He was the boy you would see trying to balance all his fishing gear while riding his scooter Downtown DeLand on his way to the skate park at Earl Brown Park. He loved to be outside, whether it was at the beach surfing, fishing, practicing stunts on his scooter, playing with his dogs, Jasper, and Bea in the back yard, he loved being on the fishing team for Volusia TSA, playing football, playing baseball with the neighborhood kids, pushing his One-Wheel to the maximum speed or just kayak fishing at Callalisa Creek with his brother, Max, and their Dad.

Sawyer was incredibly smart and witty, even though it did not always reflect in his grades. He was mature beyond his years, a true old soul. He was adored by his friends and was known to be outgoing, confident, fun and the group daredevil. He was utterly fearless in everything he did. He never met a stranger. He was a force and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Through his untimely passing, Sawyer was able to be an organ donor and give the gift of life for up to 30 people. His legendary soul will live on.

He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Helen, his twin brother Max, his Papa Graham, his Aunty Carey, Uncle Byron and cousin Will. His beloved late grandmother, Gammar Pat and his Grandma Patsy were waiting to embrace him at Heavens door.

His Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church located at, 725 N Woodland Boulevard, DeLand 32720 on Saturday October 22nd at 11am. To honor Sawyer, his family ask that his friends wear “Sawyer style” crazy shorts to his service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in his name at http://thesawyerwalterfoundationinc.com . All donations will be used to update the skate park at Earl Brown Park.
