With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Samuel Duilio Vaia, who left this world far too soon on March 31, 2025, in Flagler County, Florida, at the age of 33.
Born on October 4, 1991, in Deland, Florida, Samuel was the proud son of Samuel and Alma Vaia, who emigrated from Puerto Rico 40 years ago in search of a better life—and gave their family deep roots and strong values. He grew up in a home full of love and laughter.
Samuel graduated from Deltona High School in 2014 and went on to earn his ASE certification as a mechanic, putting his passion for cars to work at PepBoys in Sanford. Never one to stop growing, he became a certified personal trainer in 2017 and turned his love for fitness into a small business, opening a home gym with a close friend. Later, he served as a security officer.
Samuel had a deep passion for cars, weightlifting competitions, and anything with wheels and speed—especially go-karts and four-wheelers, which he loved riding with his children. He also owned Vaia Management Car Rental for a while. But above all, he was a devoted father to his beloved children, Kallel (10) and Baby Ivy (2). His greatest joy was being with them—whether it was racing around the yard, celebrating holidays, or just sharing cookies and milk. He never missed a birthday, a family dinner, or a chance to laugh with the ones he loved.
He was also a cherished brother to Elaine, Ileana, and Jaime, and a favorite nephew to his Uncle Robert, with whom he shared many domino games and warm memories. Family meant everything to Samuel, and his presence was the heartbeat of every gathering.
His life, though brief, was full of strength, love, and deep dedication to those around him. Samuel will be remembered for his big heart, his bigger smile, his incredible hugs, and his unwavering love for his children and family. His spirit lives on in Kallel and Ivy, in the sound of engines revving, weights clanking, and the simple joys of pizza nights and holiday laughter.
He is survived by his parents, Samuel and Alma Vaia, his children Kallel and Ivy, siblings Elaine, Ileana, and Jaime, and his Uncle Robert, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who were lucky to know him.
Rest easy, Samuel. You were loved more than words can say, and your memory will live on in every story told, every engine started, and every cookie shared in your name.
