Russell Gagnon
03/13/2021
It is with bittersweet feelings to announce the passing of our Dad, Henry “Russell” Gagnon on March 13th, 2021, at the age of 92, he is now at peace with his wife Shirley. Dad joined the Maine National Guard at age 16, enlisted with the Navy in March of ’45 at 17, and then, continued inactive duty with the National Guard.
They moved to Florida in the early 70s. His love for carpentry inspired him to teach vocation education at Deland Senior High School, from 1979 until 1990, establishing the Bulldog Construction Company and promoting professions for hundreds of young men and women. Their huge success raised support and opportunities from the community and state.
His student accomplishments included building or renovating Churches, Boogey Creek, Deland Amtrak Station, Florida Lions Camp, the Neighborhood Center, West Volusia YMCA, VC Fairgrounds, Cardinal Industrial Homes, Jacksonville’s Naval Air Station just to name a few. He gave his gift of wisdom, pride, and humbleness to so many young people. Thank you for your endless service. Bruce, Sheila, and Gregg.
