Ronald Johnson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Lyle Johnson, Ron, 74. Born on November 21, 1949 in St Croix Falls, Wisconsin and passed away on September 7, 2024 in Deland, Florida.

Ron leaves behind his devoted wife Cheryl and his children; Colleen (Rick Alvarez) Dunlop, Melanie (David) Vargas and Stacey (Mark) Sutton. As well as his grandchildren; Claire, Hadley, Caroline, Lachlan, Audric, Amelia, Alva and Atlas.

Ron grew up in Minnesota and joined the Army in 1967 where he served in the Vietnam war earning multiple distinctions, including the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.

Ron enjoyed many hobbies and was known for his sense of adventure. He spent many years speed skating with his family and skydiving with his wife.

A funeral service to honor Ron will be held according to his wishes at the Veteran's Florida National Cemetery accompanied by military honors to commemorate his military service. An ash dive in his memory will be held at Skydive Deland at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Puppies Behind Bars so that Veterans can continue to find as much solace and assistance as he received from his dogs.
