Richard Charles Meyers

October 18, 1955 — April 11, 2025

Richard Charles Meyers, a beloved father, brother, son, and veteran, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 11, 2025, at Advent Health Hospice in Orange City, Florida. He was 69 years old.

Born on October 18, 1955, at the New Port Naval Hospital in Newport, Rhode Island, Richard was raised in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, where his curiosity, humor, and sense of duty began to take shape. These qualities would define a life of service, creativity, and deep devotion to family.

Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a decorated veteran. He endured and triumphed through three active wartime deployments, earning honors and the enduring respect of his comrades. His commitment to duty was matched only by his loyalty to those he loved.

In his well-earned retirement, Richard found joy in the intricate worlds of HO scale miniature military and figure modeling, an art he pursued with a craftsman’s eye and a soldier’s reverence. He also enjoyed Anime, landscaping, and woodworking—pastimes that reflected both his imaginative spirit and his grounding in tangible beauty and design.

Richard was known for many things—his dedication, his talents, and especially his humor. Those closest to him remember his infamous “special word of the day,” always delivered with a grin and often with a laugh that could brighten the room.

He is survived by his father, Charles Meyers; his siblings David Meyers, Phillip Meyers, Alan Meyers, and Sandra Harley; his first wife, Sheila, and their five daughters: Amy, Kerry, Jennifer, Melissa, and Tammy; his second wife, Kathy, and her two children, Sean and Nicole. Richard was a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, and a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ann Houston Meyers, and his brothers Mark Meyers and Stephen Meyers.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand, Florida. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2025, at the family homestead, where stories will be shared, laughter will be had, and his legacy of love, humor, and service will be remembered.

He will be deeply missed and forever honored.
