Richard L. "Dexter" Rowland, Jr, 69 of DeLand, passed away after a lengthy battle with diabetes and all of its complications, on March 6th 2016 with his loved ones by his side. A native of Corry, PA, he came to this area in 1974.

Dexter was an automobile salesman, who was always willing to help out with detailing and servicing work. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #2538 and The Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #3959 . He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard L. Rowland, Sr and Charlotte Scoville Rowland and his brother Daniel Rowland. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving companion of 30 years, Sayda Franklin, his sister, Sherry & Rick Herrmann of Rockford, TN, brother Robert & Brenda Rowland of DeLand and his extended family Becky Chiricuzio, Linda Bateman, and Dennis Franklin, many beloved nieces and nephews, and his "grandchildren", "great grandchildren" and "great great granddaughter".

There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lankford Funeral Home Chapel, 220 East New York Avenue, DeLand. The family has suggested memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Foundation.
