Richard E. Olmstead of Deland Florida passed away on July 2nd, 2021, while recovering from surgery. He was 88.
Richard was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on January 27th, 1933 to Earl Edward Olmstead and Katherine M. Sporer. He attended Monroe High School in St. Paul, Minnesota. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home to St. Paul, Minnesota Richard began his career of 41 years with AT & T. In 1970, Richard moved his family and transferred to Miami, Florida. In 1975, Richard relocated to Volusia County, Florida.
Richard started a farm in Pierson, Florida where he enjoyed the outdoors and working with animals. Along with that Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, auto mechanics, and golfing.
Richard is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marilyn Olmstead; two sons Timothy Olmstead and Darrell Taft; two daughters Cheryl Smith and Karen Olmstead; grandson Christopher Olmstead and many more grandchildren, and more great-grandchildren.
