Patsy June Mitchell

Patsy June Mitchell 94, passed away peacefully at Cornerstone Hospice of Clermont on March 25, 2024. Patsy was born June 6, 1929 in Hunter, Arkansas. She moved to DeLand in 1966 with a high school education and 6 children. She worked 3 years for Keller Cabinets, went to Spartan Electronics, then to a local CPA and finally to Brunswick Corporation in 1974. Taking college courses in Daytona she graduated with a business degree ending up as a contract specialist with Brunswick.
As an individual Patsy always aspired to greatness and thrived to be a leader in everything she did. She became very involved in the community and was an active member of Athens of Florida Business and Professional Women serving 2 terms as President, 2 years as District Director and Chairwoman for their 75th Anniversary. She received the Woman of the Year Award in 1981 and was honored with a scholarship award in her name given to a DeLand High School graduate every year. She also served on the board of the Pilot Club of West Volusia and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Retiring from Brunswick in 1994 Patsy then became a Mary Kay Consultant. She was an avid dancer, serving on the board of the U.S Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association. She was a clogger with Gator Country Cloggers and Daytona Beach International Folk Dancers.
Patsy traveled to Europe, Costa Rica, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii. She enjoyed reading in her spare time and was active in the Pilgrim Community Church, later becoming a member of Stetson Baptist Church.
Patsy always lived life with class and style. In her lifetime she has been a devoted daughter, a loving sister, a faithful wife, a terrific mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Patsy is preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Mitchell (Vicki). She is survived by daughter Kathy Henderson (Sonny), son Jim Mitchell (Sandy), daughter Patricia, daughter Janice Senninger (Tom), son David Mitchell (Julie), 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Patsy led a full and rewarding life and was a genuine member of the greatest generation. We will miss her very much.
