Necia Jane Sollien

The family of Necia J Sollien sadly announces her passing on Jan. 19th, 2025 after a brief battle with the flu as a resident at the Ridgecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Deland, FL. 

She is survived by her two sons Robert K Sollien of Deland, FL and Earl Scott Sollien and their families. She also had another son, Mark Benson Sollien (deceased in 1983). Necia had five grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was widowed in 2008 when her husband Earl J Sollien passed away after a marriage of 55 years. 

Necia was full of mirth with a great open heart and always a kind word. She was born in Wellsville, NY (near Buffalo) in 1934 and met Earl in Hamilton, NY in 1951 which was their mutual home town. They married in 1952 and resided in Washington, DC where Earl was stationed at the Pentagon with the Air Force. In 1987 the moved to FL when Earl was transferred by United Technology’s Pratt Whitney division in N. Palm Beach. Earl was a corporate pilot for them since 1967. They moved to Sanford, FL after he retired in 1990. Necia worked in various positions of office administration for businesses in the cities that they lived.

A memorial/ celebration of life service is planned for Feb. 10, 2025 starting at 2:00 PM. It will be held at Trinity United Methodist & First Christian Church on west New York Ave in Deland.
