Mary Frida Olson Hagerstrand

October 15, 1934 — February 27, 2025

Mary Frida Olson Hagerstrand passed away 2/27/25 peacefully at her home in DeLand, Florida.

Born 10/15/34 in Worcester, Massachusetts youngest daughter of three. Mary was 90 years old.
Mary was raised in a Catholic family and had strong beliefs and that she would ultimately rest with the Lord in heaven.

Mary was very proud to have served her country in the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
She traveled around the states working at various Howard Johnson locations as a waitress. Mary loved plants and gardening and she would share her plants with family and friends.Mary’s love and compassion for animals was displayed as she rescued squirrels, fed the neighborhood cats and she had numerous fur baby dog and cats over her lifetime.

Mary had various jobs over her working career, her biggest love was working at the “The Clock Shoppe” as the General Manager, in DeLand, Florida. Mary collected numerous clocks over her lifetime and her mother gave her, her first clock in a small box as a young girl in pieces and Mary put it together and it still works today.

Mary also very involved in running the operations of Hagerstrand Landclearing with her ex-husband in DeLand, Florida. This is where the baby squirrels were rescued and Mary would care for them.

Some of her hobbies were putting puzzles together and framed them is display in her home, dot-dot puzzles, loved to read, crafts such as ceramics, knitted, gardening, loved collecting of chickens, giraffes, owls, tea pots, Mary would always claim they were gifts, we knew better. Mary loved to decorate her home for all the various holidays and especially Christmas. She had a beautiful Christmas village and three of four decorated Christmas trees in her home.

Mary was survived by her two daughters Carol Jean (Larson) Banach, Spouse Paul Banach of Bradenton, Florida and Charlene (Larson) Hintermeyer, Spouse Michael Hintermeyer of Gaston, Oregon.

Three grandchildren Eric Hintermeyer, Sparks, Nevada, Sarah Gearin, Bradenton,Florida, and Lisa Roach, La Center, Washington and nine great children Kelsey,Erica, AnnaBelle and Daisy Hintermeyer. Skyler and Taylor Gearin. Hailey, Jaxon, and Felix Roach such a legacy.

Sister Elsie Norgren Stevenson, Worcester, Massachusetts, nephew Donald Norgren spouse Gabrielle, niece Pamela Norgren Steinberg spouse Jay Steinberg, Worcester, Massachusetts nephew Jeff Prokopowicz. Great-nieces Natasha, Ariana, Vanessa, Jacqueline, great nephew Joshua. Six great great nieces, three great great nephews.

Cousin Nancy Allard Harding Marlborough, Massachusetts.

Mary was preceded by death of her mother Yvonne Allard Olson and Albert Olson, and sister Evelyn Prokopowicz.

Mary was a very private person and per her wishes did not want a service.
