Mary Ann Masson, born Mary Ann Reynolds, passed away peacefully at her home in DeLeon Springs, Florida, on March 28, 2025, at the age of 94. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Mary Ann had called DeLeon Springs home for nearly 40 years.
Born on November 9, 1930, in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania, to Peter Anthony Reynolds and Ann Marie Caldwell, Mary Ann grew up surrounded by family and friendship. She graduated from Saint Joseph High School in 1949, where she played French horn for three years and was known among her classmates as a true and loyal friend. Her favorite pastime during those years was dancing, and many fond memories were made at Linton Grove Hall.
On September 9, 1950, she married the love of her life, Adolph Masson. Together they raised six children, creating a life filled with laughter, love, and resilience.
Mary Ann was a woman of many talents and passions. She loved to crochet and sew and found joy in the simple things—especially when traveling the country. Her favorite trip was to Colorado, where the beauty of the mountains captured her heart. She also found peace and happiness in her community, especially at the spring, where she enjoyed swimming and spending time with her many dear friends.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Adolph, her daughters Peggy, Gerry, and Pamela, and her son Louis. She is survived by her two sons, James and Peter. She also leaves behind a lasting legacy in her 19 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in DeLand, Florida. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:15 a.m. Mary Ann will be laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery immediately following the service.
Mary Ann’s kind spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
