Leonard W. Klingen loving husband and step father passed away peacefully in hospice care. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary, step children Christian and Hayley, brother Alex Klingen (Jan), his sister Monica Gould (Mike), his mother Tine L. Klingen, brother in law Scott Hawkins, and many nieces and nephews.

Leonard had an illustrious career in life. He was born in Baarn, Netherlands. His family relocated to Australia and then Miami. He graduated from UF in 1976 with a BS in Design. He worked for 20 years in the construction industry in South Carolina, France, and Iraq. He returned to Florida and studied at NOVA Southeastern School of Law where he earned the degree of Juris Doctor cum laude in 2003. Leonard was a partner at The Barthet Firm in Miami. He was a Board Certified Construction Expert, a CMA and a prolific author of scholarly legal articles. Leonard possessed a remarkable range of disparate talents and interests. His insatiable curiosity led him to be an accomplished photographer and world traveler, master of disgusting Dutch curses, and DIY home builder. He was an omnivorous reader, relentless road tripper and energetic tinkerer who loved challenging himself to learn more about the world around him. Leonard left his mark on all who were fortunate enough to cross his path in this life.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Wildlife Refuge Association, 1701 K Street NW Suite 550 Washington D.C. 20006, in memory of Leonard W Klingen.
