Joyce "Joy" LaVigna-Eland-Massey, born on March 12, 1947, in Lackawanna, NY, passed away on December 28, 2024, surrounded by love. Joy was raised by her devoted parents, Geraldine and Rocco LaVigna in Euclid, Ohio.

Joy was loved beyond measure by those who knew her. Her grandchildren, Nathan and Haley, lovingly called her "Grammy," a role she cherished deeply. A graduate of Daytona State College, Joy earned her degree in Computer Programming, a testament to her intelligence and determination.

She had a passion for life’s simple pleasures—traveling with family, creating beautiful knitted and crocheted works, spending cherished moments with her grandchildren, cooking, and visiting Saturday morning farmers markets. Her warmth, humor, and generosity touched the lives of everyone she met.

Joy is predeceased by her beloved husband, James D. Eland. She is survived by her loving daughter Heather Pattison, son-in-law Michael Pattison, and her treasured grandchildren, Nathan and Haley. She also leaves behind her oldest and dearest friend Caroline Pearsall, sister-in-law Lynn Eland and close friends she considered family.

A celebration of Joy's life will be held at a later date, where those who knew and loved her can gather to honor her memory and the light she brought to the world.

Joy’s legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter Catholic School in Deland, Florida (https://stpeter-deland.org/blank/). As the school her grandchildren attend, Joy took great pride in seeing Nathan and Haley inspired to reach for the stars and nurtured with love and encouragement every day.
