John William Pounds, Jr., born Aug. 14, 1943 in Jacksonville Beach, FL, died on Mar 5, 2023 in Deltona, FL.

John was a United States naval man aboard carriers and destroyers for 21 years, retiring in 1981 as a Lt. Commander. After leaving the service, he worked as a contract negotiator for the Washington State Ferry System. After other Engineering jobs, he retired to his birth state of Florida in 1999. Proving you can come home again.

He leaves behind his wife of almost 30 years, Delores(Dee) Pounds, 2 sons John William Pounds 3rd, and Scott Raymond Pounds, 3 Granddaughters and multiple Great Grandchildren.

His hobbies after retirement were Golf and his 3 Miniature Longhair Dachshunds (Jane, Phoenix, and Izzy) show dogs.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday March 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Lankford Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a Graveside Service on Thursday March 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL with Honors being provided by the US Navy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
