John Thurman

John Wayne Thurman, 53, of Pierson, Florida passed away on October 12, 2024. Born on October 29, 1970 in Hollywood, Florida. John was a man who loved his roots, hunting, fishing & most importantly the role he played as a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and friend. His adventurous spirit and passion for the outdoors left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his parents, Ed and Louise O'Quinn of DeLand, Florida and Kirk and Carole Thurman of Pooler, Georgia. His siblings: Ann (Pete) Richardson, Jason O'Quinn, Shelly (Tony) Visconti, Sean (Mary) Thurman, and Erica (Craig) Burgstiner.

He was a devoted husband to Laura Thurman. He was extremely proud of his boys, Will (Alyssa) Thurman and Troy (Anslee) Thurman, Ryan (Lauren) Clark and Jacob Clark. He absolutely adored his four grandchildren Brayden, Paisley, Taylor and Evelyn.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday October 26, 2024 at Bethel Cemetery, 2485 N. Spring Garden Ave., DeLand, Florida at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow at The Richardson's Barn, 384 Emporia Road, Pierson, Florida from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

In honor of John a benefit account has been set up at Mainstreet Community Bank, 1500 N Spring Garden Ave, DeLand, FL 32720 for his family and contributions can be made payable to Laura Thurman.

John's legacy will continue to live on through his kids, grandkids and his family. Those we love don't go away. They hunt and fish beside us everyday. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.
