Jim Baumgartner passed away on June 29,2022 at Hospice in Orange City. He was born May 1, 1949, at Halifax Hospital Daytona Beach, FL. Graduated from Seabreeze High School, Daytona Beach in1967 and Santa Fe Community College, Gainesville, FL In 1972. A jeweler by trade, he operated J.B. Jewelers from 1978 to 1987 in Ormond Beach and DeLand, FL. Was married to Peggy Klein 1987-2000 in Cullman, AL., where they operated Flowing Creek Fine Crafts. Jim was an art instructor at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, AL. and a visiting instructor at The John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC As a returning student, he received his B.A. Degree in Humanities from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. in 1996.

A secular spiritual pilgrim, Jim was employed for one year at St. Bernard Monastery in Cullman, AL. He studied in India in 1996 and again in 2006. From 2005 to 2010 he worked, lived, and studied at the Kripalu Yoga Center in Lenox, MA., studied at the Omega Institute in New York and completed a one-year internship at the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. From 2010 to 2013 Jim served as a caregiver in Massachusetts and Virginia until he retired and moved back to DeLand.

Jim is survived by a brother Roger Baumgartner, His children, Tracey Baumgartner (daughters Brittany Baumgartner and Blake Wilbert [husband Leland Wilbert - Carter and Carlee]) Roger’s son Troy Baumgartner (wife Angela Baumgartner - daughters Marlee Tucker [husband Chris Tucker] and Logan Baumgartner [Aspen]).
