Jeannette Feeser Tennant of Glenwood, Florida passed away on July 6, 2024. She was 96. Jen was born in Carlisle, Pennsylvania on September 13, 1927. She graduated from Boiling Springs High School and two years Commercial College Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Jen was a Secretary-Stenographer at the Cumberland County Courthouse in Carlisle, working in various offices of the Courts, including Juvenile Court and Probation office. She was a part-time Secretary to the District Attorney and Secretary to the County Judge. She later worked as a Secretary-Stenographer at the New Cumberland General Supply Depot (Army) and was transferred to the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle barracks, PA. ,a very elite school of education for very elect USA colonels. She was Executive Secretary to six of those Colonels, two of whom became Generals; a position she was honored to have. She moved to Augusta, Georgia where she became a homemaker and mother to two stepdaughters, Lynn Tennant Canby and Darlene Tennant Blair. A son, Dale Michael was born at Ft. Gordon, Georgia.
In 1960 she moved to Glenwood, Florida, became an ordained licensed minister; ministering in several area churches, including Chapel-on-the-Hill, and also in South Florida.
Jen returned to college at DBCC and entered the work force as a Social Worker and Secretary for Central Florida Legal Services. When that particular position phased out, she was asked to be Coordinator for the Foster Grandparent Program. Her last employment was at the Duvall Homes, etal, in the Education and Training Department. That position too phased out and she was asked to be the Receptionist and Switch Board Operator. She spent much time in ministry with the hurting (of heart, mind, and soul), visited cancer patients in hospitals, oncology centers, and nursing homes. She enjoyed writing poetry for her friends, renewed ceramics and interior decoration…and foremost she was “on call” for prayer.
Survivors include her son, Michael, and two stepdaughters, Lynn and Darlene.
Jen battled cancer 6 times and was victorious over them all…her tenacious faith in God’s grace brought her through many trials of sickness and heartaches. Her message was forgiveness, unconditional love, and steadfast love and faith in Jesus Christ.
Lankford Funeral Home will be in charge and the Internment will be at Pinehurst Cemetery in DeLeon Springs on Friday July 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
