Janette Bransford Bedford left this world on Saturday, November 6th, 2021, for her eternal home at the age of 93. She was born on May 26th, 1928, at home in Thomaston, Georgia. Her parents were Bennie and Mattie Bell Smith, and she was the youngest of nine children. Janette was a resident of Thomaston until she moved to Brookdale Senior Living in DeLand, FL in 2019 to be closer to family.
She graduated high school at R. E. Lee Institute in 1945. In 1949 she and William Edwin Bransford were married until his death in 1991. She later was married to James Edward Bedford for twelve years and enjoyed a loving relationship with Ed’s sons, Gary Bedford (Doris), Marshall Bedford (Linda), and their families. She is survived by three sons, William Morgan Bransford (Patty) of Green Cove Springs, FL, Jeff Bransford (Kathy) of DeLand, FL, Douglas Bransford of St. Louis, MO, three grandchildren (Barry, Nicole, and Whitney), and eight great-grandchildren.
She was employed by B. F. Goodrich for more than forty years and was a longtime member of Silvertown Baptist Church. Janette will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. Her family always came first in her life. Her remains will be returned to Thomaston, Georgia to be placed beside her husband, Edwin. A memorial service will be held at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home in Thomaston on Saturday, December 4th. The family requests donations are made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
