Jim Hayden

Jim was born April 29th, 1938, to the late Sam and Alberta (Mullins) Hayden in Palmetto, Florida. He passed away peacefully on November 1, 2021, with his wife and family by his side.
Jim graduated from Manatee High School in 1956 and went into the Air Force. After he came home, he went to Manatee Junior College where he graduated with his A.S. Degree in 1964. After receiving his degree, he moved to Tallahassee and started to work with the Florida Department of Transportation. In 1985 he was transferred to DeLand, working out of the Winter Park and DeLand offices until he retired in 2003.
He met his wife Kathy in 1987 and was married in 1998. After retiring from FDOT, he stayed home for a while and in 2006 he went to work at Walmart in DeLand as a door greeter until he retired in 2019.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Michelle Hartley, Tallahassee; step children: Gregory (Abby) Bryan, Orange Park, Florida; Mary Bryan, DeLand; and Christine (Donnie) Elkins, Deltona; his grandchildren Jack Leggett, J. Tyler Hartley (Brittany) and Shelby Hartley, all of Tallahassee; Tyler Franzini, Deltona; Samantha (Joey) Evans of California and Mackenzie and Bryanne Elkins of Deltona; two great-grandsons, James Dawson Hartley and Ezra Glover, both of Tallahassee; brother Jerry (Karen) Hayden of Georgia and three nieces Shelley Hayden of Georgia; Lynne Hayden, and Amy (Bobby) McGrath, Florida. A great niece, nephew and several cousins.
