James Hal Whelan Sr. 75, left this world for his eternal resting place on February 28, 2022, at Advent Hospital in Palm Coast, FL, with his family by his side. ‘Jim’ was born September 17, 1946, in Ventura, CA to parents Ernest and Lyra Whelan. He was a tradesman; Drywall Contractor, building many homes throughout the state of FL. He was a loving and caring, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he had many hobbies including, fishing, collecting, puzzling, and painting.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest G Whelan and Lyra M Whelan, his wife Sarah L Whelan, and his sister Jackie L Moss. He is survived by his children; James H Whelan Jr, Richard L Meredith, Jan J Medeiros m. Dean E Medeiros Jr, Jennifer L Whelan, and John E Whelan, brother; Jeff A Whelan and sister Johnna M Spell, grandchildren; Dean E Medeiros III m. Ashley Medeiros, Justin J Medeiros m. Courtney Medeiros, and Jessica M Medeiros, great grandchildren; Jordan D Medeiros and Jaelynn B Lopez, as well as many loved nephews, nieces, and cousins. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in North Lauderdale, FL near his parents.

Jim had an infectious smile, a thirst for reading and knowledge, he loved nature, and classic western movies. He was a simple man and always loved a ‘good time’. He will be missed by many.
