Jacquelyn Marie ‘Tuma’ Pirollo

Jacquelyn Marie ‘Tuma’ Pirollo, age 77, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024. Jackie was born on April 25, 1947, in Long Island, New York and was the eldest daughter of Jack and Millie Tuma. The Tuma family moved from New York to DeLand in the late 1950s. Jackie attended DeLand High School and was a Class of 1964 Bulldog Alumni.

Jackie met her husband (Anthony ‘Tony’ Pirollo) at Florida Military School in DeLand when they were just teenagers, and were married June 30, 1967. They had two children Deborah Pirollo and William Pirollo. In 1970, they moved to Ventura, California where they lived until 1981, returning to the DeLand/Deltona area to be near family. They were married for 57 years.

If you knew Jackie, you knew her sweet smile and gentle soul. She was kind, compassionate, and always put the needs of others before her own. Jackie worked for local CPA’s in DeLand as a bookkeeper, and was Supervisor of Accounting for the Clerk of Court in Volusia County, for many years. Jackie then joined her husband Tony on the road as an Independent Truck Driver in the early 2000’s traveling coast to coast, even learning how to drive an 18-wheeler.

She was devoted to her family and the glue that kept everyone together. Jackie enjoyed spending time with her Red Hats, and in Casinos where the winning ‘Tuma Luck’ always seemed to be in her favor.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony ‘Tony’ Pirollo, her parents Jack and Mildred Tuma, and her brother William Eugene Tuma.

Jackie is survived by her daughter Deborah Pirollo, son William Pirollo and his wife Sarah, four grandchildren Kyle Ingram, Nathan Hewson, Jarred Hewson, and McKenna Pirollo. Her sisters Elaine Bell and her husband Richard, Mary Felton and her husband Gary, and close cousins Janelle Naser, Edna Jones and Jo Ann Hocker survive her as well; She also leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces still here in the DeLand area.

Over the last 5 years, Jackie suffered from advanced Dementia and Alzeheimers. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jackie’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (her favorite Charity) or any Dementia/Alzheimer Research Charity.

Jackie passed away exactly 5 months after her husband Tony. A joint celebration of life will be held at Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand, on January 11th. Visitation Hour begins at 12 noon, with the Memorial Service beginning at 1pm.
