Henri Sue Dearing Bynum, a devoted educator and beloved family member, passed away peacefully at her home in DeBary, FL, on June 29, 2024. She was 80 years old.
Born on February 7, 1944, in Columbia, MS, Henri Sue dedicated her life to the field of education, touching the lives of countless students and teachers over her remarkable 57-year career. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts in 1967, a Master of Education in 1977, and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1979.
Henri Sue's passion for education led her to develop a teacher education program for Florida community colleges, which trained thousands of teachers across the state. Her contributions to the field of education are enduring and have left a lasting impact on the community.
Beyond her professional achievements, Henri Sue was an avid reader who found great joy in the pages of a good book. Her love for literature was well-known among family and friends.
Henri Sue is survived by her loving husband, James L. Bynum Jr., of DeBary, FL; her sons, James W. Bynum of Pasadena, MD, and Charles D. Bynum of Lake Helen, FL; her brother, George M. Dearing of Ocean Springs, MS; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Lois Newsom Dearing and George Milton Dearing.
Henri Sue's dedication to education and her love for her family will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
