1926 - 01/23/2021
Helen M. Boss, 94, passed away peacefully at AdventHealth Orlando Hospice after several weeks of care. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday Jan. 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Deltona, Florida, followed by internment in Rensselaerville Cemetery, Rensselaerville, New York, at a later date. A first generation American, Helen was born July 29, 1926, in The Bronx, New York, to Ida and Anton Hirschbeck. In 1956 she married Thomas E. Boss and they later relocated to upstate New York, where they raised two daughters, Karen and Christine. Throughout her life, Helen had a successful career as an Executive Secretary, but family was the focus of her life. She instilled her love of travel in her girls, and passed down her talents in music and art. Helen was an accomplished pianist and an oil painting artist, and recently had her artwork on exhibit in her hometown of Rensselaerville, NY.
Helen will be most remembered for her sweet, caring way, always putting others first and being there when needed. She had a warm smile and soft touch. While generally quiet and shy, Helen enjoyed engaging in conversation with others and always made visitors feel welcome. Helen’s gentle but steady presence will be missed by all as she touched the lives of those she encountered. She is survived by her loving daughters, Karen M. Hancock of Fredericksburg, VA, and Christine S. Cartwright, of Deltona, FL, as well as her beloved granddaughter, Leah M. Hancock of Fredericksburg, VA, and two great-grandchildren, Sean K. Smith and Maddox S. Smith. To plant a tree in memory of Helen Boss, please visit Tribute Store
