Hector Jimenez, 82, passed away on March 16, 2025, at Halifax Hospital. Born on December 18, 1942, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, he was the beloved son of Modesto Jimenez and Julia Benitez.
Hector spent his early years in Puerto Rico alongside his three brothers, Jose Jimenez, Faustino Jimenez, and Efrain Jimenez, and his four sisters, Juanita Jimenez, Maria Luisa Jimenez, Carmen Jimenez, and Lydia Jimenez. At the age of 12, he moved to the United States, where he later met his first wife, Myra. Together, they raised four children—two sons and two daughters—building a family rooted in love and faith.
A hardworking man, Hector dedicated many years to the USX Steel Mill before retiring. He found joy in the simple but meaningful moments of life—going to church, reading the Bible, and fishing. His heart was always in the mountains of Puerto Rico, a place he spoke fondly of throughout his life. One of his favorite Bible passages was Psalm 91, a testament to his deep and unwavering faith.
Hector is survived by his children, David Jimenez, Diana Jimenez, Ana Jimenez, and Fabian Jimenez, as well as his 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, who will cherish his memory and the legacy he leaves behind.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Lankford Funeral Home (220 East New York Avenue, DeLand, Florida 32724) from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with a service to follow from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
