Elizabeth "Betty" Brennan, a cherished homemaker and devoted Catholic, passed away on August 9, 2023, at the age of 93, in Orange City, Florida. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion that has touched the lives of many. Betty was a steadfast pillar of strength and kindness in her community. She was a faithful member of St. Peter Catholic Church in DeLand, where her unwavering commitment to her faith and her fellow parishioners shone brightly. Her life was a testament to her deep devotion to the Catholic faith.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Brennan, and her daughter, Elizabeth. Despite the challenges that life presented her, Betty remained resilient and full of grace, finding solace and purpose in her faith. Her abiding love and wisdom were guiding lights for her family and friends. Beyond her role as a mother, Betty was actively involved in various charitable endeavors. Her commitment to serving others was evident through her work at the food pantry and her participation in numerous groups dedicated to assisting families in need. She extended her caring nature to minister to the sick and was a cherished member of the CCW, embodying the values of compassion and selflessness.
Together with her husband, Paul, Betty raised ten children, each a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She leaves behind a loving family, including her children Kathy & Mark Sortino, Paul & Gerry Brennan, Rev. Thomas E. Brennan, Eileen & James Sawyer, Patricia & Robert Nicholas, Christine & Donald Schulz, Brian & Anne Brennan, Theresa & Gary Picone, and Rose Palmer.
A viewing to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Sunday, August 13, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lankford Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, August 14, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church. These gatherings will serve as a testament to the impact she had on the lives of those around her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Betty's memory to the Salesians of Don Bosco, 148 E. Main Street, New Rochelle, NY 10801. This gesture will honor Betty's commitment to compassion, service, and her unwavering dedication to making a positive difference in the world.
