Edward Joseph Dameron (Ed), 84, born April 23,1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio passed away quietly at his home on Saturday, September 26, 2021. Ed was known for his integrity, caring ways and flamboyant personality. He loved talking with family, friends and neighbors on a broad range of topics. His greatest love was playing his saxophone, whether at home alone or with other musicians before public groups. Ed was best known for his rendition of “Yakety Sax”. He was married for 59 years to his loving wife, Lynita (Lynn) Edna Chaney Dameron. For much of his life he worked in industrial sales for several companies and in real estate. Ed served for 8 years in the Ohio National Guard. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite and Shrine for many years. Ed was a member of the West Volusia Historical Society and DeLand Chamber of Commerce, as well as being active with Main Street DeLand. Ed was preceded in death by wife, Lynn; Son, Edward Joseph Jr.; and parents, Elfreda and Ervin Dameron. In addition to nieces, nephews and many friends, he is survived by brother Ervin Donald Dameron of Round Rock, TX and sisters Ruth Eskesen of Tucson, AZ and Rebecca Blaise of Clearwater, FL. Graveside services will be held at Oakdale Cemetery in DeLand on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the West Volusia Historical Society, 137 W. Michigan Ave., Deland or Shriner’s Burn Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnett Ave., Cincinnati, OH, 45229.
