Dolores M. Jarrard, affectionately known as Dee, decided on January 2, 2025, that she had checked enough boxes on her life’s to-do list and gracefully exited stage left. Born in Wachula, Florida, Dee made her grand debut into the world, ready to sprinkle humor and slight sarcasm wherever she went.
She met the love of her life, Wendell N. Jarrard, in Tallahassee, Florida, where she swiftly locked him down for 63 years of marriage (take notes, people). Together, they were an unstoppable duo, traveling the world and tackling life with wit and laughter. A proud graduate of Florida State University, Dee was not just a fan but a lifelong advocate for all things garnet and gold. Go ‘Noles!(Even through the 2024 season)
Dee wore many hats throughout her remarkable life: social worker, retail mogul, crossword-puzzle whisperer, and bridge player extraordinaire. She spent almost 20 years working with State of Florida in the Social Services Division before making her mark as the owner of Reeve and Howard, where she probably perfected the art of sass and customer service simultaneously.
Her greatest roles, however, were as a wife, mom, but would never be called grand anything just, Dee!She and Wendell decided to shake things up by having two daughters, Jeaniene Jarrard Jennings (Bill) and Danielle Jarrard Flowers (Cheryl Lankford), who brought three grandchildren into her life: Austin Flowers(Amanda) Alex Middelton(Jon) Cole Flowers (Kenya). Just when Dee thought she was done, along came the great-grands: Reagan and Aiden Flowers, Oliver and Blaire Middleton, Sebastian “Bash” Flowers.
Dee is survived by all those listed above, plus her brother Marvin Metheny (Mary) Twin sister Dot Hayward (Tom) and Yvonne Curry, and her loyal canine companion, Joey. She spent her days cherishing family dinners (in or out), scrolling the community page on Facebook (she probably knew about your HOA drama), and solving crossword puzzles faster than you could say “seven across.”
Dee will be remembered for her impeccable sense of humor, political views & her ability to brighten any room with her quick wit. Her firm belief that life’s little hiccups were best handled with a smirk and a well-timed quip.
A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lankford Funeral Home. In true Dee fashion, she would want the world to know she’s having the last word—and what a word it is.
Rest easy, Dee. Your family, friends, and Facebook followers will miss you dearly.
