Dennis Arthur Rainville

Dennis Arthur Rainville, 61, of Deland passed away at home Tuesday, May 31, 2022. He was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Arthur and Suzanne Rainville and moved to DeLand in 1975. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Karen, son Rick (Amber), daughter Lisa (Jason), three granddaughters, Emily, Shaelyn and Irelyn, two brothers, Dan (Carolina) and David. He also leaves behind many close and very special family members and friends.
Dennis was a fun loving, lighthearted and laid back kind of guy who always had your back. He was a passionate protector and advocate for his family, loving his kids and granddaughters with his whole heart. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, Emily, Shae and Irelyn, making them laugh with his unique brand of humor and wit. He loved pranking them, teaching them to drive the golf cart, showing them how to snap green beans, make deviled eggs and frost cupcakes. He loved to make them laugh and lovingly referred to them as his “Goons”. To them, he was “Poppy”.
Family gatherings were always a fun time and it was no secret that he truly enjoyed them…especially all the good food! He was a ‘foodie’ and made not apologies for his love of a good meal. Most of his Facebook posts were pictures of soups and great meals prepared by Karen, whom he lovingly addressed in the posts as “My Chick”.
Dennis had a passion for car restoration and spent his career in auto body repair and painting. He also taught in the vocational tech program for his field, sharing his knowledge and expertise with high school career tech students.
Dennis was a man of incredible strength, positivity and determination. This was most evident in his four year battle with cancer. He never complained and never asked, “Why me?” His courage and bravery has been an inspiration to all who knew him and he will truly be missed.
