Constance Ford Richards, 86 years old, known as Connie, Mom, Granny and Gi, went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was the daughter of the late Tom W. Ford and Winona Blocker Ford. Connie was born in Glasgow, Kentucky but had lived in DeLand since she was three months old.
Connie was married for 66 years to the love of her life, Roger Dale Richards Sr. They were married at Stetson Baptist Church where they were faithful members throughout her life and served together as Sunday School teachers for many years. She was also active in the PTA and Junior Women’s Club where she served as president. Other than spending time with family, Connie loved to sit and read at her cabin in the North Georgia mountains.
Connie attended DeLand schools, and graduated from DeLand High School with the class of 1956. She was employed at Barnett Bank after Business School in Orlando. She retired from Volusia County School Board Transportation Department in 2000.
Family was very important to Connie and she loved any family gathering and called all of them early in the morning to sing happy birthday. Connie was the proud mother of Dale Richards Jr. (married to Patti), Mark Richards (married to Angie) and Winona Richards Ham (married to David). She is survived by eight grandchildren (Meagan Lamb, Dale Richards III, Chad Richards, Brad Ham, Kaleigh Augustine, Kelsey Long, Brandon Ham, and Kassidy Hart), eight great-grandchildren (Dale IV, Luke, Ella, Kennedy, Wesley, Kinley, Hudson and Magnolia), and her half-brother, Richard Thomas Ford better known as Dickey.
