Family and friends are mourning the loss of Carroll Marvin Cassada, age 85, on Thursday, July 8, 2021 in Orlando Health Hospital after complications from surgery.

Carroll was born at home in Lynchburg, Virginia on January 22, 1936 during a snowstorm. His parents were John Marvin Cassada and Nellie May Vaughan Cassada. He was the oldest of four children. He has one surviving sister, Brenda Cassada Mihalko and her spouse, Dick Mihalko. His brother, Ronnie Cassada and sister, Peggy Cassada Jernigan predeceased him.

He will be mourned and missed by his wife, Gloria Jean Cassada, and his children; daughter Karan Bailey and husband Steve Bailey, daughter Darlene Moore and husband Rudy Marginot, and son Kevin Cassada; as well as his grandchildren, granddaughter Kelly Williams, granddaughter Lauren Bushey and grandson Jarrod Tedder, his wife Rose and daughter Evangeline. He was predeceased by one daughter, Lisa Tedder and two grandsons, Patrick Keating and Jace Tedder. He was beloved by nieces and nephews and Jimmy Anderson, Tommy Anderson, Ron Anderson, Lisa Lee, Debra White, Jonathan Jernigan, Greg Daugherty and his daughter Elena Daugherty are mourning as well.

Carroll grew up in Lynchburg until early adulthood, attended EC Glass High School and married his first wife, Edwyna Marsh Cassada. He moved the family to Florida and they became successful Florida transplants, living there for the rest of his days. After the passing of his wife, Edwyna, he was lucky to find love a second time. He married Jean in 1988 and they were married for 33 years at the

time of his passing.

He was the quintessential family man and loved nothing more than having family around him every chance he got. He was soft spoken and the nicest man you’d ever want to meet. Many described him as a true Southern gentleman. He loved a good joke and was an avid sports fan. He never met a Florida Gator he didn’t like.

Carroll spent many a family meal sharing fascinating and sometimes bizarre claim stories from his career as a property and casualty claim manager at Hartford and his 2nd career as a Vice President of Clarendon Insurance after his retirement from Hartford. He continued his many friendships from both of those roles throughout his life after retirement.

Walmart is also saddened by the loss a loyal customer. He tried to make it a point to go to Walmart every day. He enjoyed walking around the store and talking to people. Family thought he just made up excuses to go - - every day.

The family invites you to a celebration of his life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 East New York Avenue, DeLand, FL 32724

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
